I'm in the Mod for a New Lens

It's been over a year since I bought a lens and feeling like treating myself to a new toy. I use a Canon 60D and currently have: 70-200 L; 70-300 L; 400mm 1:5.6 L; 85mm; 10-22mm wide angle; 100mm macro and the 24-105mm. Maybe I don't even need another lens. Favorite subject matters are all forms of wildlife...plants..flo​wers...anything "nature". If anybody has any suggestions please let me know. Am not a "professional" but simply an avid hobbyist trying to learn and improve my photography skills.

Doesn't look like you need much, but a wider prime could be useful.. such as the Sigma 35/1.4 Art.

Honestly, you have the focal range covered pretty well. I would just save the money. If you are really wanting to buy something, maybe a new camera bag . My wife says they are like purses for men because we buy so many hahahaha.

HAHA!!! Got the Camera Bag covered too. I guess probably best to use the money to buy some photography lessons since that's really my ultimate goal is better picture taking. Thx.

Unless you are looking for something different...like a macro or fish-eye, you have it covered. You could go the cheaper route and get some extension tubes since you like garden pictures.

If you're just wanting a new toy, you might look at picking up a used full frame camera. There are a number of used ones around and you can pick up one anywhere from around $600 - $3000+ depending on how much you want to invest in another toy. With the subjects you shoot and the gear you already own, it seems like a natural fit. I picked up a 5D classic a couple of years ago that was in mint condition for around $800 and I love having both crop and FF cameras.

I would make this a two step rocket and buy a 6d or a 5d 3 and then buy something to replace your wide zoom.

Sell the 24-105. Get a 15-85.

Bob is spot on. It's always nice to have a second body, saves the hassle of changing lenses all the time. Perhaps have one of your telephotos on the 60D and your wide angles on your full frame.

I like Bob's idea. Otherwise pick up a 600/4 IS II

other than a fancy tilt shift, fish angle or a good prime, id say your fine as you are, unless you wanna go crazy and buy like a 600mm haha or even 800 for that matter

I got a 5D with the Canon BG-E4 grip and three batteries for $650, last year. Camera and grip were in excellent shape, functionally and cosmetically. The batteries were shot, though. Two replacement SterlingTechs cost me about $25.

You should come in WAY under $1,000. Good luck.

You shouldn't have any problem finding a 5D classic that will fit your budget. Be sure to ask if the mirror fix has been done. There are a few listed on this site and on FM that could work for you. Good luck with your purchase.
