Quack - do you live in Des Moines year round? I'll be there for Christmas. Would be cool to meet up to shoot if you're not too busy.

I do indeed live here full time. And I would love to get some shooting done together when you are out here. I think you did some shots last year at a park by my house. I think we even had a short conversation about it if I remember correctly.
Keep my in the loop as your plans get closer. We will set up some time to get together. Let me know what you want to shoot as I have a few photog friends that might help us out with locations.

Amazing shot! I love the composition here and the tonality.

Have been looking at this lens recently. I'm planning on upgrading to a 6d so my 60mm macro won't work.

I love my 60mm, I know I'll obviously not have the macro function but it's so sharp, how does this compare?

I'm either looking at this or the 50mm 1.4.

Sancho, it is going to be determined by how far you will be from your subject and the type of photos you will want to be taking. The 85 is a fantastic lens, but it is long. It won't be quite so long on the FF, but it would be pretty close to the view you see with your 60 when not shooting macro. (60X1.6=96mm equivalent)
The 50 going from Crop to FF will seem like you are sitting in the persons lap.

That's my worry about the 50.

I do a bit of portrait and with my 60 I feel quite close sometimes. Maybe I should look at a 135?

But then I'd feel like I'd only really use it for portraits, whereas an 85 may have a little more crossover

60 x1.6 = 96mm and you feel this is a bit long. Why would you consider 135mm? I think you would find the 85 quite versatile. Affordable with excellent IQ, I say go for it.

Bingo. I LOVE my 135, but the 85 is a much more versatile focal length and such a great value.

Thanks Mesmer! I don't often get feedback on here, so I really appreciate that!
