Just wondering who most of you order lenses through. Also who has good shipping practices and are timely.

  • Adorama
  • Amazon
  • B&H
  • E-Bay (any specific sellers or USA only?)
  • 42nd Street

POTN is always the first place I look and/or buy from. One can usually find what you are wanting for a fair price and well taken care of by fellow photography nuts. Next stop for me is Canon Refurbs through Adorama. I have also purchased non-refurb lenses from Adorama. I've never had any issues with any seller/vendor I am happy to say.

Some day I might try B&H but cross border can be a hassle at times. Although I have great experience with lands End.

I've done the first four on your list...no complaints with any...as well as abesofmaine.com and the sell forum here...never had a bad experience with any of them

For the lens I prefer B&H and Adorama since their 30 days return policy.

Where do you purchase your lenses from?

People who advertise here on POTN, on Fred Miranda, and on eBay.

I have found that used lenses make the most sense for me, and I get more for my dollar by buying used, and waiting for a particularly good deal. I've bought used lenses from private individuals that range anywhere from $300 up to $5,000, and never had any problems with any of the lenses.

Buying new just doesn't make sense, from a practical standpoint. I think that the advantages of buying new are more perceived, intangible advantages than they are actual, real advantages.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Purchasing from B&H offers a hassle free cross border shopping experience. Give them a try.
