How long does your battery last while in camera and not being used?

I have a t4i with canon 18-135 stm that is left on the camera. When my camera is off and sitting for about 5 or 6 days of no use, the battery will be completely drained.

Emailed Canon support and here is their response:
I understand that after leaving the battery in the camera after a couple of days the battery is depleted. Unfortunately, we do not have a standby time for the battery because when storing the camera we recommend disconnecting all accessories form the body (lens, battery, etc...). Leaving the battery in a completed circuit does drain power over time even if the camera is not being used. Below is the expected battery performance for recording images.

So my question is does everyone remove all accessories per Canons response to me? My previous Sony a580 could have the battery sitting in camera for a month and not drain that much, so this happening to me now is something I am not used to.

I know their is a t4i thread but I want to know if this does or doesn't happen with any Canon DSLR.

Thanks

I leave everything connected but turn camera off. my XTi would last for several months with light use. My T2i seems to be more of a battery drain. I always have 3 batteries minimum.

All of my cameras will last months. I would not be happy with Canon's response!

I don't really notice any battery drain at all when I leave the battery in which is always.

I used to have T4i and did not experience with the battery drain.

My batteries are in at all times and I also don't use the on/off switch for the camera.

Never seen the battery drain out - on my older 20D or in my current 6D/7D....

I don't leave my cameras unused that long that I notice.

Regarding the on/off switch - which really isn't an on/off from an electrical point of view, but just a way to inform your camera about that you don't intend to use it - you should turn it off at least over night and similar.
The automatic cleaning of the image sensor runs only when you power on/power off your camera. The longer dirt is allowed to sit on the sensor, the less ability the camera will have to shake it off.

Then the other aspect is that if you let the camera sit in a bag, with the power switch on, and something happens to press on a key, then the battery will drain much faster. The lower trigger button is very easily pushed in a bit by a soft bag, for example.

My cameras usually don't sit unused for 5 or 6 days. Half the time I don't bother turning them off. They are set to sleep at 4 minutes of inactivity. I have never pulled a dead-battery camera out of the closet.

Your camera has a problem. Try storing it without a lens attached. Maybe it is the lens.

Not anything I have ever experienced. I recently used my 60D for five continuous days, never shutting it down, and in addition almost filled a 16 gig card with 500 images. The battery was at 25% when I finally reached a power source. I wasn't ever concerned since I had two backup batteries.

My current old batteries on my 1D2 were/are shocking. I bought a new one, from a site (non genuine) and it is my best yet. Just checked my card and I have taken over 700+ photos since last weekend (21st/22nd) when I last charged my battery. I don't use the old ones any more, this new one is great! :) (I have used my camera every day this week and last so far)

It's lense specific, often with certain (not all)Tamron. Change lens and see. If it is a Tamron issue they'll update firmware which stops it happening. I don't have an affected lense. My EL-P8 lasts weeks. Never gone more than 14 days without use, constantly get 3-400 shots per battery (I have a Canon and a Duracell).

My 5D3 w/ canon grip and the 24L attached can last a few months (at least) for awhile. I charge the batteries maybe 1x every 3-4 months. I just leave it on. It's my go-to camera/lens for taking pictures of the kids at home.
