Not that I'm an expert on flash in manual mode, but yes, I think that would be best Brenda. Tethered is probably best if you're in the studio, but if you're shooting outside and moving around a lot you may just want to watch the histogram extra closely.

You've done some great portraits with the 70-200/2.8, I've enjoyed looking at them. You seem to have a particular talent for putting kids at ease...

Thank you for the very kind compliment!

I do sort of a mobile studio at times. I will have to figure out method I should employ then.

PS: after a year with 60D I`m starting to think about 7D - my kid is running too fast for 60D AI Servo and its fps... So all Canon insiders: is 7D MKII coming soon or should I get MKI?

About 1.5yrs ago I was really pining for that lens. It was right after the earthquake in Japan and the price was at about $600 and it was out of stock, everywhere. Now, it's about $450 which makes it a very good deal. Before the earthquake, I believe it was around the same. I've recently toyed with the idea of this to tide me over until I can get the 24-70 II.

7D II can't be too far away, after the 70D.

The best speculation I've read and agree with is that Canon has too much money to earn on the 70D and would not be in their best financial interest to release the 7D II until such sales have slowed down. I think the 70D sales are just warming up - mind you I do hope the lower priced and great bargain D7100 also remains popular so it may help drive the 70D price down, but likely just wishful thinking on my part ;)

Canon Rumours believes there will be no further EOS bodies or lens 'released' or announced in 2013:

Good idea!

7DmkII situation is that we know that we don`t know anything, really.
I will wait some months (maybe a year) only when 60D will smoothly cooperate with me or buy 7DmkI (prices are good now) when I will end up with bunch out of focus pictures once again. First world problems I guess.

I have a question in reference to low light indoor shooting without flash. I stated without flash because I like to walk around and "catch" photos. Meaning off guard, when people are being themselves and interacting. However, I will also do standard portrait shots ( single, couples and group). I do have two manual flashes that i was thinking of using when doing the portrait shots.

Event - Baby Shower

Level - beginner/newbie with ambition/drive :)

With my current gear what would you recommend I use? Also what lens that I do not currently have should I get?

Current lenses/gear:

MIR 1B Russian Lens 37mm f2.8
Nikon Nikkor-S auto 50mm f1.4 non-AI
Nikon 28mm f/2.8 series E AIS lens
Sigma EX 10mm-20mm DC HSM
Canon EF 50 f1.8 II
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS
Helios 85mm 1.5 (2013 w/Canon mount)
Canon 28-135mm 3.5-5.6
