Canon EOS M + Cosinon 135mm f/2.8. Unfortunately exif isn't recorded. Taken at f/2.8 or f/8 depending on what I was shooting.

Well I bought this Camera specifically for my France/Italy trip because I did not want to carry my dslr around. I think it handled decently. In the end even though I didn't want to at first i couldn't help but bring my Tamron 17-50 with me. bigger then I first envisioned but still much more manageable for me then if I brought my 5D.

I did say screw it and left it at home for a few days in Venice and just took the 22 mm.

Anyhow i am sure others have purchased this for the same reason so for those interested here are photos from my Siena/Venice portion of the trip.

I finally received my Voigtländer, APO Lanthar SL II 90mm 3.5 lens. This was new and with EOS fitting, thus allowing automatic aperture functions with M through the Canon EF-EFM -adapter. Very rare lens as very few seems to have bought it if you judge that by the count of photos taken that are published in the net. For me it was to get a lens with best IQ I could afford. Don't ask the price, but really there were no contender for the price :-)

M, the adapter and the lens.

I like to use manual focus lens for close focusing subjects, so I do not miss autofocus much, but admit purchasing a new lens without autofocus is a bit odd. I have used 5x and 10x magnification to determine the right focus. This needs getting used to, but have already noticed myself adapting to use it. I also miss viewfinder a bit, but that also would not be used so much as I do not want to lie on the ground where most of my close focusing is done. Tilting screen would be awesome, though.

The lens with the converter feels very good on my left hand palm, and the focusing ring is just in right place to be used by my left hand. Right hand is free to do maneuvers.

All in all, at the moment I think I will like a lot of photographying with manual focus lens. This particular lens is very sharp if the focus is right and you can avoid shake. I also like the bokeh rendering. I seem to get a bit of underexposure, which has to be corrected in the future.

P.S. I think I posted my previous attempt of the post, but it doesn't appear, so I must have closed the window before posting. If this comes for some reason as a double post, I apologize.

What thumb grip is that? I was looking into getting one.

I use manual focus lenses on my M more than the 22mm kit lens.

I have a LCD viewfinder which works wonders with manual focus, but I only use it when doing video. It's kinda cumbersome for regular still shooting.

I bought the thumb grip from ebay, with a brand name Selens (from one Chinese seller). It seemed, if possible, to be a bit more quality product than the rest. It works, but I personally would like to have one that were between half and one inch longer. Haven't seen such though.
