Yesterday I went to photograph a little interview with actor and director Diego Luna being done by the New York Times in the Teatro Espanol ... it was just the standard photocall in front of a background and five minutes from a rubbish position beside the stage (followed by one extra minute in a slightly better position after we explained that he was sat with his back to us so we could get sweet F A from there) but it was an opportunity to get in the door at another big theatre here, and the talk was pretty good afterwards ...

El Lago de los Cisnes (Swan Lake to you and I) by the Cuban National Ballet ... in Madrid. Basically my first time shooting classical ballet after years of just about every other type of dance ...

It's 01:15 now, so tonight I will be shooting Rhianna (starts at 21:00)
Looking forward to it, the first big act I have shot in ages, it will be nice having decent lighting for a change, unfortunately I'm shooting from the sound desk (so have to drag a 400 along)

Flaming Lips/Tame Impala

That should be a GREAT show! The Lips have such an impressive visual presentation. I haven't seen Tame Impala, but their music is good. Hopefully you can share some of your images...

I probably won't get any shows in before the Yonder Mountain Harvest Festival (external link) in a couple weeks. I'm really looking forward to this event which is usually the highlight of my musical year...

Just had an email through for some circus on Thursday, I don't see why not - especially as their YouTube videos look pretty good - Les 7 Doigts de la Main (The Seven Fingers of the Hand) performing Sequence8 ...

i'll put 'em up at some point.

to be honest, the show was a let down from what it could have been. i give wayne credit for ditching the hamster ball (he should have done that a couple of years ago), but the song pacing and selection was a bit turgid.

Tame Impala started really strong but then lost the plot a bit.

lighting for both bands was a bit challenging to say the least.

Yea, take a long lens.

I shot her last week, we were stuck at the back of the standing area, next to the sound desk.

The sound desk guys were up on nice 2' tall risers.
We were all standing at ground level, so my first few frames have the bottom half obscured by glowing phone screens.
