As expected, the D610 is just a minor updated from the D600 with improved shutter mechanism, new quiet continuous shooting mode options, slightly higher fps rate and improved white balance (I did not see any official mentioning of the*new weather sealing).Read more on NikonRumors.com:*http://nikonrumors.com …ews/2013/1008_dslr_01.htm (external link)

Thank you Nikon!

I can now get a D600 really cheap (hopefully)

Skill is very important but a fully charged battery is very very important

They're already going for $1300 on EBay and most of these are under 5,000 actuations. I can only imagine how much cheaper these will be once the 610 is released.

I tought some people had oil problem on the sensor, it was hard to clean, but that might just had been a few of em ;)

I have read somewhere that they are made in China, and Canon in Japan, so it makes sense
about the higher price for a Canon Camera....
Specially de 5DmkIII vs D800

About the oil spill, well I think its sad to make a nice camera with problems....as such!
And another thing is the aperture in video mode, you can't change it while recording.
But I would still love to own a D600 and a fuji X100s.

D800s are made in Japan. I think D600s are made in Thailand.

Still, they should have recalled and serviced it, like Canon did with the faulty 1D3 AF and 24-105L flare problem. Although they can probably get away with it, since Canon doesn't really have anything to rival the D600 anyway...

Yeah they should have. It's very hard to see this as anything other than a big middle finger to all D600 owners.

For the hobbiest for sure but, I made that money back ten fold and preordered a D610. I won't cry about it though. The D600 still produces awesome IQ regardless of what people think! :)

So much truth.

The 6D and D600 are a lot more different than people give them credit for. I'm one of those people for whom there really is no answer to the D600 right now. Thus, I'm planning on picking up either a cheap used D600 (if they fall below $1100) or a D610 soon.

I'm well aware of Nikon's poor PR and apparent poor customer service. It seems like an awfully dumb time to jump ship, given this. Unfortunately, Canon has left me with no choice because of their sensor weakness. Some real competition in the area of pure image quality and dynamic range in the DSLR market would be more than welcome...
