Sold my Canon 7D. I have 13 year old twins that I have a million shots of so far. However, Their 9 year old little sister, no so much. Now that I am out of SLR cameras, I want to pick up a good P&S to make sure I don't miss those days with the little one either but there are so many and I see reviews of many and one review says image quality is great and next one say that image quality is absolutely horrible. Any way you guys can lend a hand? Any favorites?

Thanks in advance

Yep kind of need to know your budget. But if you enjoy have RAW files then I can highly recommend the S100 (or S110, etc.) from personal experience. If RAW not necessary then any Canon P&S that fits your budget. Go to a store, hold them in your hands, play with the settings and pick the one that fits your needs.

If your budget is $3-400 Pick up a EOS M, has the same sensor as the 7D.
Doesn't have the AF but for still to slow moving objects it's great.

'That won't break the bank'?

I say go for the G15.
That could be nifty.

I bought a used S95 in that price range, and I absolutely love it and the quality of the photos I get from it.

Look for a Canon SX160. It's a very versatile camera with a long zoom and offers manual controls if desired. You can find one well under your $200 limit. It takes two AA batteries which some folks don't care for. Personally I prefer AA's because when I travel I don't have to worry about forgetting to charge up a battery. AA batteries can be bought anywhere.

If you don't like AA batteries then consider the new Canon SX170 it's basically the same as the SX160 except it uses a single lithium-ion battery. It too can be had for less than $200.

I'd go with a used Olympus XZ-1. Great IQ for a P&S; fast lens.

If Canon (or really compact) is a priority then the S100 (or maybe S110 if you find a bargain).
