I shoot with a Elinchrom Quadra since 1 1/2 years, at the beginning I was very happy and dont get me wrong, it is still a good device but there are a lot of drawbacks...

1. I HATE! the 66/33 distribution on the power outlets. Its annoying...
2. The Adapter Ring for Elinchrom Softboxes is just stupid...
3. The Reload Time is to slow. Normally the 400J are enough but i am always close to the maximum power setting. So the reload time is very long from shot to shot.
4. Modeling Light is very weak.

Now I was thinking to buy a Ranger, but the major drawback is still there... The 66/33 distribution...

Plan B was to buy a second Quadra. The Quadra would solve problem 1, but the other problems remain...

Another solution is the Profoto B4. But the B4 is heavy, big, expensive and dosnt have 2 completely asymmetrical power outlets.

So, what to buy?
i need something with:
1. 2 asymmetrical power outlets,
2. a possibility to mount big Softboxes
3. More power
4. a fast reload time
5. and a light device. i dont want to carry 15kg or more...

is there a solution? ?

I'm confused. You don't want the 66/33 but do want asymmetrical output?
Ranger RX is not asymmetrical unless you opt for the AS pack.

I own a DSLR, some lenses and some lights.

damn... so you want more power, fast recycling, light, and not expensive?

these aren't too expensive and i believe they weigh less than 10 lbs each.

Yeah, pick two. Nothing has three of those characteristics. The minute you add the power and other features, you add weight.

Yes! The Broncolor Move 1200 L. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than the Profoto B4 also. :)

Dynalite?

They're heavier than the quadra, but still a light setup compared to some other stuff out there. I use an 800w/s packa nd 3 heads all day long. Plus it requires a separate battery if you don't have an outlet. I use a Vagamond mini for that.

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

Speedotron users, untie!

LOL

Tell us how you really feel.

You want faster recycle time and more power. Buy a Elinchrom Ranger RX or speed more money on the next level up.

I like the AS output a lot, wouldn't have it any other way.

Would you like to buy a vowel?
Go ahead, spin the wheel.
