I think noodles with lots of color is not a good subject for the moody look I've been aiming for :p

Thank you so much for the feedback , OhLook ! Really appreciate it :)

What would be moody? Oh, I know, black bean soup with jagged bone fragments sticking up. Just in time for Halloween!

Feedback is scarce around here. It's like many conversations, too many talkers and not enough listeners.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa, more so (2 wds.), shoo-in | IMAGE EDITING OK

Good stuff CJ! That the 6D in action? What lens? Ambient lighting only, I take it?

It was all 6D with Canon 50mm 1.4 (Alvin's go to, right? hah).

All ambient -- 2 candles on the table in a dark restaurant...all shot at 12800! It just eats up light.

It's a historic moment, a once-in-a-lifetime event! A bad food photo by Alvin KC Lee!

(French-fry cocktails? Seriously?)

CJCMarquez, your mom is lucky to have a feast like that. It all looks great. Also lucky to have a photographer in the family who can record it.

Thanks OhLook - appreciate the kind words.

The food was really good especially when not having lots of expectations

This is nice enough. The processing is interesting but the food I think would benefit from a less-flat treatment - more crunch/contrast possibly.

Also - a narrower aperture would bring the whole shot into focus. You might be going for that arty narrow depth of field/wide aperture shot but actually food shots often look good from above with a narrower aperture - something like f/8 - f/11 would work.

And also - your props - try finding an old fashioned spoon - something worn and used - would suit this shot better.

Nice idea though.

thanks for the feedback, hadn't seen your post. I'll keep in mind your advices, food photography is new for me and intriguing

Very nice. Like how each element is seen in the frame. Feel it could be a bit brighter overall.
