Maybe they could call it the 6.1D, just to keep up with the dark side.

What it wont be:
A true successor to the 5D2, with groundbreaking new sensor tech! High resolution and greatly improved dynamic range, with the cleanest shadows you've ever seen. (Clearly something make the D800 pale in comparison).
14-24L
16-50L
50 f/1.4 II
24-70L II IS
35L II
135L f/1.8 IS
And lots of other sweet stuff

What it might be:
New cinema body.
New cinema lenses.
EF 45mm f/2.8 IS (or some other video lens for the non cinema bodies).
New firmware for the 5D3 that makes the rate-button play a polyphonic melody every time you press it.
Powershots and a couple of new printers.
Nothing at all.

I'm just guessing here. We'll see.

Meanwhile at camp Sony.. Full frame NEX emerging!

Sony A7R * 70-200 2.8L II * 24-70L II * Samyang 14
Recently sold: 5DIII * Sigma 35 *

What it might be.

A new calculator.
A new printer.
A new photocopier, maybe one with dual pixel technology so it can even focus on crumpled paper?

Thanks for a good laugh. Yes, this is pretty much what we can expect.

But who knows, maybe Canon will enlighten us this time.

but a lower end calculator with video... all the old-school calculator heads here will moan and groan for a year but we know how that turns out - soon most calculators will have video.

Canon: on the cutting edge with technology we don't need but soon insist upon

A new powershot, offered in 47 different colors. Wifi and "super duper" video included, and a max ISO of 102K, but only usable to 400.
