5D Mark III on eBay - BigValueInc... $2575 BIN

They raised it a tad. Last one was $2549. I have read mixed reviews about us/grey market cameras from Big Value, but still a good deal if that doesn't bother someone. They have gotten alot of positive feedback from their previous 5D III sales, only a few unhappy campers from 100+.

So much easier than dealing with the canon refurb method of sending back a broken camera for the discount...

Will Canon work on one of these if something goes wrong? I remember there being a big back and forth about grey market, but can't recall the solution.

Canon will definitely make any repairs (if ever needed), but they may or may not honor the one-year warranty period, so you might have to pay if something is wrong with the camera.

Thanks, thought that was the case.

Cant you just hang up and call a different rep if they dont wanna honor the warranty?

Supposedly they honor them as long as they are US models and you have a receipt showing you bought it within the last year. At least based on the things I've read since asking my question above.

Well they adjusted the price. It is now at $3399.

^ That's par for the course. The other things that BVI does on occasion are far, far worse.

I think maybe the $2575 was to increase the number "Sold" and number of "Watchers" so when they raised the price uninformed buyers look and see "80+ sold and 100+ watchers..." and think "wow, $3300+ must be a good deal... look at all the buyers..." Then maybe they go after the few that got the sub-$3k price and pester them to buy overpriced, un-need, peripherals to edge up their margins.

But then again maybe it's all on the "up & up" and my speculation is just me being cynical...

As a heads-up, as there are many people still uniformed...most folks that buy from BIg Value get what appears to be a USA model with all of the accessories that are supposed to come with the camera body. But a handful of folks have received an overseas model. And a handful of folks have received camera bodies missing parts such as the eyepiece or battery charger. If you have an issue and want to return it to Big Value, you may very well encounter a tremendous hassle...many folks have been down that unfortunate road.

But for some folks, they received what they ordered and had no problem at all. What's important is that buyers need to be aware of the risk they are getting into when buying from Big Value.
