when folks have a few minutes can they click on my various flickr links and see if they get 3 separate sites please? I would actually like to shut 2 down, ideas on how I would go about that?

at first glance I thought that too but only the shots at the top are all the same, the ones further down are different...

I would go with a. if it's a 4 year old server then it's more than likely been decon and someone didn't do their job.

cheers, I was leaning that way...

I thought it may have been just me, but the first and third links give me the same pages if I follow them from here also. I have had a number of problems with flickr, both those sites stopped working for no reason and I could not get any joy on trying to get someone to fix it. The one that starts with 'red' was a pro subscription given to me by a friend, it worked for a few months, then yep I could not get back in. I find a number of those pics somewhat embarrasing now and would like to dismantle them.

Chris, it looks like your new flickr link in your signature is still linking to your old account.
The displayed url is your signature is showing: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chriswaynzpics/ (external link), but the actual page it's linking to is still http://www.flickr.com/photos/chriswaynz/ (external link)

.....Great catch up last night, hope no-one minded the interloper and Mark - It was great to put a face to a name and meet you and your lovely family last night :) ......

Thanks Chrissy. It was nice to meet you and the guys. We had met briefly at Paeroa Battle of the Streets but I hadn't met Tim previously. Of course, everyone knows the Wookee...

The full frame club gains another member.....

Congrates Chris on the acquisitions and it looks like you have been putting them to good use. Look forward to seeing more.

moral dilemma: bought a 4-year old server a couple of weeks back & find a lot of original user info on it (enough to work out where it came from, a school, and if I put enough effort in, probably quite a lot of e-mail)

do I:
a) toast all the drives & pretend that someone didn't do their job properly in the disposal, or
b) make further enquiries.

thoughts?

I would probably do sufficient to identify where it originated from and then inform them that you have picked it up, advise them that the people who disposed of their old gear did not do a very good job and re-assure them that you will wipe the disks (after cloning them and getting all of the juicy stuff off it first.... just kidding)

While in Wgtn. had a visit to the Weta Cave.

Got to hand it to Jackson & Co. they are certainly on top of their game. The wife had to purchase the obligatory souvenir of course.

I've just order the Dell 2713H monitor. :)

Can't wait to have that alongside my other two for surround scope PC geeking.

Moppie and Stefan have been helping me a wee bit with sorting the various bits I need to do a home build for a new PC, however, I'm still having issues with one key area, and the assembled geeks here may be able to cast a light. I need to run 2x Dell 2209 monitors (they use VGA or DVI ports) and this new Dell 2713 which has VGA, DVI and DisplayPort. So that's 2x 1680x1050 and 1x 2560x1440. They need to be ideally on one graphics card which isn't going to hump me into next week, current choice was this: clicky (external link) but the guys at Ascent advised one monitor would have to run off HDMI as opposed to running the two 2209's off the DVI-D and DVI-I sockets.

I'm trying to research around and read up for a definitive answer, but my own Googling either ends up pointing me at $1000 graphics cards or adverts for selling the cards I'm researching.

Any thoughts very welcome!

Cheers, Dave.

Unless of course you run one 2209 off the onboard DVI and one off the card, but I've not found anything which says that works anywhere... ?!

Cheers, Dave.
