there's a boundoir or implied nude workshop this saturday i will attend to. the thing is, i saw the photos of the photog teaching and i'm not really that impress. nothing extraordinary and made me say wow.

the thing is though, he has lots of network of muas/hairstylist and models. i thought it might be good for me to interact with models, muas and other photogs. I think 8 models will be in attendance.

what do you think? the fee is $125. the session is from 11am to 5pm.

If you get to see b:shock::shock:bs it's totally worth it! Just playing, it'll be worth it to network. I look at it as there's always something that you can learn, even if it's not what to do. Maybe you learn something or maybe you learn not to do something another photog does wrong at the class, anyhow you learn something new. Maybe it's something you forgot, but seeing again a different way makes it stick. You can always learn something.

Vinz go for it 125 is cheap, you will always gain something from these type of things. Also if your new to shooting nudes and partially clothed women it's probably good to see how it's all done.
Shame your not closer I would get you to come on a shoot with me :)

Canon lowers its profit projections for 2013... less DSLR sales and more camera phone sales...

Possibly good news for enthusiast/semi-pro/pro photographers if the trend continues... less people walking around with a DSLR calling themselves 'Pros' and advertising/charging $50 a session...

Will,

I read an article on this a few weeks ago, posted here somewhere. For the first time in decades, sales of DSLRs have fallen. We knew camera phones have been affecting the sales of point and shoots..... but evidently, they are influencing how many DSLRs are purchased as well.

That surprised me a bit because there is such a difference in quality. I think where most people's photos end up is a determining factor, i.e., facebook or some other social media site where the quality is degraded anyway.

The times, they are a changin'.

I wonder if the folks will still want the $50 sessions and be ok with folks using their cell phone. ;) People could post on CL that they'll shoot a wedding for $100, you must provide cell phone or tablet. :/

there are more and more articles popping up of pro-photogs testing camera phones and they are impressed with the images (see dpreview as a main source).

but the biggest determining factor is that those phones use an aperture of like...f/60  and so control over depth of field is a tool distinctly lacking

Well, many of the $50 session CL folks don't understand dof, anyway. At least from what I've seen on their sample pics.
