Thanks, I thought the blue sky and blue sky reflected in the windows went well with the...well, blue Dodge. ;)

nice result, but why did you keep the car on while you did this?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I pulled it out of the garage to check for any wax I might have missed while buffing. When I pulled back into the garage the fumes lingered because I have the exhaust dumped before the rear end.

I spent 12 hours, over the course of two days, detailing my Camaro. Washed thoroughly, clay bar, back to black, Mothers polish, glaze, and wax.

This is my first attempt at light painting -- I closed the garage, set the camera up on a tripod, and did a 30 second exposure. I set my iPhone to a white screen and walked along the car to illuminate it. I would have liked to play with it longer, but the exhaust fumes were making me loopy.

QUOTED IMAGE

I do not claim to be a light painting expert, BUT, I'm a tad confused. Is it my imagination, or did you do this during the day with some large degree of ambient light? It is a nice looking shot, just thinking that the car doesn't appear to stand out from the background from a lighting effect? Again, maybe I'm missing something, but would be curious as to exactly how you did the lighting? Purely for reasons to understand the shot...

The garage was completely dark. The camera settings were f/8, ISO 100, 30 sec. I hit the shutter button and walked along the car with my iPhone on a white screen, that was the only light source. Everything was in close proximity to the car, so it got lot as well.

Ok, sorry, I stand corrected. Saw a strange light source in the back right corner of garage near door......I wasn't sure...now you describe it, I am quite amazed that your phone's screen was the single light source and how the lighting appears so consistent throughout......

You can get pretty decent results with phone lighting.

Plus you can say "Strobist: iPhone 4"
