Well, I've joined this lens club. This no great image but it is a record shot of a noble, but sadly depleted Red Bay tree, fighting for its life. Florida has an invasion of small beetle that carries a fungus that kills bay trees and some other things. Most have died already, but we have been trimming infected parts and treating the tree with annual antifungal infusions and it is hanging on. The Rokinon 14mm was perfect for getting the whole tree in the image frame.

Sometimes you gotta stick this lens right in their face. The front element was probably an inch or two from his nose.

ok, lens just showed up, here is the first shot with it and a question.

alright, i've never used lightroom. up until this point i've just been solely using photoshop... in this case photoshop elements. Elements doesn't support a lens profile correction, so i download a free trial of lightroom and download the profiles for the 14mm lens.

here's my problem. i shoot in RAW, i usually edit in raw in photoshop then save as a .jpg for the internet. if i edit a picture taken with the 14mm in photoshop and save it in .jpg then import it to lightroom for the lens correction, it doesn't work (the correction). if i import the file directly into lightroom as a RAW, the correction works, but then lightroom exports it to photoshop as a .tiff, which is fine, but then photoshop won't save it as a .jpg.

the only way that i've found to get around this is to export my raw file into photoshop as a .jpg, and do any final editing there, but i'm editing as a .jpg not as a raw at this point. i guess my only option is to do my lighting edits in lightroom as a raw, export as a .jpg, then clean it up in photoshop (straighten, clone, etc)??

anyway, if that didn't make sense, sorry, but i have to say the lens correction feature works nice. first shot from the lens. i didn't have a brick wall, so my garage will have to do.

Congrats on the lens!

As far as workflow, I import all my raw images into lightroom and do all my color correction/cropping. From there I will export all the images as tiffs to PS and do the rest of my cloning and skin work. Final export from PS will be jpeg.

I'm using PTLens with Elements - it works very well. The PTLens installer detects Elements and asks if you want to install the plugin, and it's then available in the filters list. There's a trial version that the author encourages you to try - it's fully functional, just restricted to processing ten images. I bought it purely to use with this lens, but find I use it more and more with other lenses...
