Did my first run with a net cam last night, got some decent stuff but there are a few kinks to work out. overall im pretty happy with the first attempt at this.

1- Caught a goal here in the 3rd period, tuff to tell since the player is behind the post on the right side.

2- And a few seconds later another goal but the faceplate got moved due to a portion of the velcro holding it in place failing, and blocking the puck at the top of the net.

Nice shots.

I did some backboard cam a few years ago for basketball but never got around to doing any goal cams. What did you do for your box?

the set up is pretty simple,

for the box I got mine from www.hockeynetcam.com (external link)

there are photos of it there. It was a bit pricey for what it is. Once I got the box I kinda realized that you can prob make one yourself for less than $100. I did go with this one because its the same ones they use in the NHL and it made selling my idea to the league easier.

For the camera I used my 50d and the Ronkion 8mm fisheye. Ideally I would like to get a 5d and a 15mm 2.8 fish eye.

camera settings were all manual. I just set the focus to infinity f5.6 and a ss of 1/400th iso of 2500.

the camera was fired using the b&h house brand triggers but they missed fired alot so im going to order some pocketwizzards soon.

also here is a video of the instal of the net cam into the back of the net.

Looks like fun! Not sure if they'd let me put one in place in our arena, but it's certainly worth asking. Thanks for all of the links and info!

just so you know, you'd be close to $150 for the box alone, then the hardware is around another $100. So realistically it's not a bad deal to purchase.

I use to make my own, and the hardest thing is getting someone to bend lexan. It's not like you can just walk in any store and buy the stuff, let alone have it bent.

As for your shots, lightning is a little dark, and you need less ice on the bottom and more net up top.
