Don't panic,, you just have the screen colors set differently than the default. It's in the MENU options somewhere.

WE GOT A WINNER! Thanks juckerz
....the manual shows option 1/default settings, and the camera was set for option 3...

I look forward to contributing to this thread!

I should say also that this was an EOS body I've wanted...just the right size for travelin'...though just last week found the S90 which I like a lot too!
...and found it at a thrift with the old 18-55 and the 55-250IS...neither of which I need...selling them off will make this body a great find.

I love the sensor on the XSi,,, just the right pixel density IMO. Camera is small, lightweight and an absolute bargain,,, paired with your 35mm F/2, you have a serious little camera . If I hit the trails it's always the XSi & 50mm 1.8 I pick up on the way out the door.

Yes, a very good combination of pixel count and size....
...the XSI was a real step up from the XTI...in physical size from the XTI that was the smallest D-Reb to then...a return to the more reasonable ergonomics of the 1st D-Rebel and to a nice rear screen and larger/brighter viewfinder/focusing screen...I'm looking forward to "seeing" how well it works with all my MF lenses...

Not well with my old eyes. A loupe and live view works well for manual lenses. With AF lenses, I use the confirmation lamp in the viewfinder as my AF system is a little off.

Should I even bother selling my XSi? It seems like it is worth peanuts now.

If you get a fair bite on craigslist or ebay, then perhaps.. but otherwise I would just keep shooting with it until it stops working altogether. I tried to sell my XS in the classifieds here but haven't gotten any takers in a week.

Besides, with your 60D body you can keep the XSi around in the car or something and always be on the ready for that award winning shot! :-)

While I don't shoot much with mine today, I do use it. It's a fine camera. Likewise, I have a G9 I keep in my car and use frequently.

Ha! If you're adventurous and have some extra money, you could do an infrared conversion. I keep debating it for myself, though I simply don't think I'd use it enough.

I just UPGRADED to it so it's worth a bit more than peas and nuts...though it isn't going to replace my 30D for use with manual focusing lenses...

The XSI's viewfinder is as bright as the 30D, but the focusing screen is even "finer" than the 30D which is already pretty fine...but images in the 30D pop in and out of focus more readily and so the XSI gets Canon AF lenses, the 30D the MF gear.....
