Hello 5D Mark 3 Users,
I recently upgraded my Canon camera from the 60D to the 5D Mark 3. I am delighted with the 5D Mark 3 however I have encountered an issue when using a flash unit such as the 580EX II and 600EX RT, shooting, say indoors on manual mode (1/60, F4 using the 24 to 105 kit lens, flash on ETTL) the photos look underexposed and this is confirmed looking at the histogram. I have ruled out a problem with the flash units as I have tested it on the 60D and there are no issues. I am wondering if there is a problem with the 5D Mark 3. The settings I have been using are AWB, ISO 200, E-TTL II Evaluative, default CFn on the flash unit.
When I give it flash compo of +1, it looks normal. Note I have the most up to date firmware 1.2.3
I have gone back to the store where I purchased the camera from and have shown them the underexposed photos and they agree it looks underexposed. I was able to talk to a Canon Rep who was there at the time and he could not shed much light on the matter, offering only to use custom white balance. Huh???
Do you think I have a dud camera? Its still under warranty so I can get it replaced.
