I wonder if Cebu was damaged too? Also Boracay, will be there on the 11th.

Bantayan Island, Daan Bantayan and parts of Northern Cebu was badly hit... Central Cebu seems fine.

My father's side of the family mostly live in between Tacloban and Palo. I pray all of them are alive. Really wish they ditched their homes and moved here instead.

Yeah I have been talking to somebody din from Tacloban on another forum and I am not sure what happened to him as well.

Apparently the Mcdonalds near Tacloban Pier was totally submerged in water in the height of the Typhoon.. and all the way to the inner barangays in Tacloban.

I think Juvsr is ok since he post a photo on FB. Im still praying for the family who lost their love ones. 1200 people died when I read this morning. God bless to all of Us. Be strong and be safe everyone

1200 is only for Tacloban and parts of Samar... so I am sure the toll will rise:cry:

That's what we're hearing here in Canada as well. My heart just sank.

Yes they are only covering part Tacloban at the moment and reports are saying more than a thousand bodies already...so 10,000 is not far fetch considering it made landfall 5x...

Thanks Tony... everything is fine here. Ricoh seems to be satisfying my need at the moment.

For those curious here are some photos of Tacloban City taken a little over 18 hours ago by an amateur photog. I am very thankful for Ryan Monterola for taking the effort to document the situation on the ground despite the danger to him.

As of this time cellular, data and other communication connections are still largely down. I also expect power to be down as well. I hope they can get back to a semblance of some normalcy by Christmas.

Now, if you want to help consider donating to the Red Cross of the Philippines. In my mind they're the easiest and most convenient way for people outside of the Philippines to help.

Any help is much appreciated

chimp, Tacloban City Hall has wifi back up (pls, as "absurd as it sounds people aren't playing "fruit ninja") and some of our friends are thankfully alive. Still waiting on word from our family.

People from Luzon can already go by car up to the foot of San Juanico Bridge on the Samar Island side. From there they must ditch their car and travel by foot to Leyte.

People from Visayas and Mindanao can go by boat up to Ormoc. From there they either take public transportation or bike to Tacloban.

I am reading shared posts on Facebook that Tacloban is a no man's land. People on Leyte Island are reportedly hijacking relief trucks from the Red Cross and even going as far as going after people with food, water and fuel.

Civilians are being discouraged from going to disaster areas as they will be adding to the burden of the area.

I have good news. Our three staff with roots from Samar reported that they are still alive and that their immediate family are also safe.

On my end one of my uncle is reported to be alive.

Paolo and all the other people in this thread, I don't know what to say or do other than donating money, which I am, but I am so very saddened by what has happened to your country. I hope everybody here is alright and nobody has lost loved ones. I wish you strength. My thoughts are with you.
