isn't this the first 600 millimeter zoom lens that is reasonably priced?

also appears to have a focus limiter.

Only other 600mm I know of is a Canon or Nikon but they are in the $10K range but also F4. But for outdoors, F6.3 is still pretty good.

Here is the MTF charts compared to the only other one I see listed the 70-300 VC USD.

Seems like a better performer on the long end.

What's the difference between the dotted and non-dotted lines for 30 lp/mm?

a winner if it's as sharp as the Canon 100-400
I'll wait until the reviews and pics show up

Just have to wait for pics regardless of the MTF charts (mostly to see how real the charts are,).

f/6.3 is just a bit slow.

If Tamron or Sigma could make a razor-sharp, fast-focusing 200-600 f/5.6, it would be very competitive.

Can you explain why you think 1/3 of a stop matters so much? I am assuming it will pretend to be a f/5.6 lens to the AF system...

AF speed and accuracy - not just at f/5.6, but at f/8 with a 1.4x TC.

For when you are shooting birds in flight, handheld, at 840mm?

This one's really got my interest since the 100-400 II never wants to come out. Awaiting reviews......

it doesn't. But it also makes it easier to make than a 5.6. If it was a 150-600 F4.5-5.6 then yes I can see the cost over 2k but remember guys this is Tamron who's only recently broke the $1K mark w/ it's 24-70 & 70-200 VC models.

I highly doubt this thing to be higher than it's 70-200 VC model.

Just think of that 1/3 stop if they did make it a 5.6 then the front element would have to be probably 105mm only increasing it's weight and amount of glass and again ya I could see it going to 2K+
