Looking for a budget hard case for DSLR and lenses/accessories. I want something around the size of the Pelican 1564. Maybe a hard suitcase with a Pelican divider set?
Does not need to be/have.

- waterproof
- wheels/handle (Only need a suitcase style handle)
- extra pockets/compartments

Anyone have any experience with anything?

I have no experience with them but Adorama has their own brand of hardshell cases that they sell under the "flashpoint" brand. Not sure if they have one the size of a Pelican 1564.

I want one at least the size of the 1564, but I am more than willing to go bigger for the right price. That was more of a starting point than anything. I am going to check those out on adorama. Thanks!

Awesome, I have a store a few miles away. That's where I bought my large toolboxes in my garage. Do you use one yourself?

I use one to hold my strobes and another to hold strobe accessories (power cords, refectors, etc.). The ones that I have came with the laser cut foam and dividers which I mixed-and-matched in the accessories case (foam for spare bulb, etc. while cords just get dividers).

I'm off lining my cage with newspaper.

I think the one that might be closest is the Flashpoint SealTite 1514

I will be heading there tonight to take a look at them. I would be looking at them for holding accessories and the like as well.

Thanks Helen. Do you have an option for padded dividers? Or is Foam the only option?

I'm told that we only stock foam due to our agreement with Pelican - BUT that the Pelican padded dividers should fit the Flashpoint case.

Calumet also makes their own pelican-style cases. I trust them explicitly with my mamiya RZ67 AND a digital back.

Not to entirely thread-hijack but I have essentially the same question for tenba-air cases... is Flashpoint the only other brand as well?

No worries. I would be more than happy to see any other possible options out there as well.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that I dont necessarily need a hard case. I really just need to for storage in the house and light transportation to my car. All a hard case would do is cost more. Maybe a rolling bag of some kind will work too. They tend to have padded dividers unlike almost all other hard cases that have foam.

Pelican seem to have bought all the "good" plastic case companies (storm/hardigg and trimcast)
Storm seem to be their cheaper line.

There is also HPRC (high performance resin cases) as an option and Underwater Kinetics

Here in Oz - Kincrome sell some, they are pretty nice, but not up to pelican quality (but not pelican price either
