The stock clear filter holder at the back of the lens actually holds gels. I bought a sheet of .9 and .6 for about $5 and cut the right shape out.
That's what was used here.
I also have the screw-in filter holder which uses 58mm filters. There is not a front element filter available for these big lenses. Would be insanely expensive. (As if the lenses were reasonably priced!)

Thanks! And yours is cool! Looked through your other stuff and very impressed! If the plane shot was your first with the 300...just wait! Truly one of my fav lenses! And it takes the TC's very well!

Unfortunately no. Chamorro but grew up stateside heh.

So I freelance for the local paper here and they wanted me to cover a indoor basketball game. I figured sure I can try out my new lens... I mean I did get it for sports and stuff!

Also very good. I compare these though to the set with the 500mm f/4 you also posted. The 500mm set have the edge IMHO. Assuming you processed them the same that leaves the difference of cameras...
