Does someone (who register this forum) pay more than 7500$ for all bodies, lenses and other photograph accessories?

I'm sure it has happened, Canon 800mm went for 8K-9K at one point.

not all at once, but there are plenty that have spent more than that.

5D mark iii, 24-70mkii, 70-200mkii, flash, and you're pretty much there.

Over the years,I've probably spent $25,000 on cameras and related equipment. It is a fairly expensive hobby. Spread that over 40 years and it doesn't sound quite as bad.

Word. I have more than $1000 just in lighting (speedlights and strobes) before I even get to cameras and lenses! And I don't have the high end stuff.
This stuff adds up, ESPECIALLY over time! Hell, $100 isn't considered a lot to pay for some piece of gear anymore LOL!

Just wired $13,500 for a Phase One system... a refurb kit at that.

$7500 on one item, no, I don't know anyone. But if you mean altogether, then I know a couple of guys with about $25,000 worth of bodies, lenses and lighting gear.

Easily.

I budget around $2500 a year, depending on stock prices.

I think if you added another zero to your number, then things would get interesting.

Of course they do, $7,500 doesn't buy you the high end gear, not here in the UK at least, and a lot of forum users have the big lenses or a 1Dx.

At the current exchange rate $7,500 works out at £4,655. Both the Canon 1Dx and Nikon D3x are above that, so either system involves going above that threshold to get the top end body. As for lenses, there are 8 Canon lenses that cost more than that (so anybody that wants a "big white" has to spend more than that - even the 300 f/2.8L is above that amount) and the 200-400L is £12,000 (over $19,000). There are even a couple of big Sigma lenses that cost over that amount.

This is an expensive hobby and there are enough people earning enough to be able to throw big wads of cash at their hobby. I know a number of hobbyists who spend way more than that amount on some new piece of equipment, every year.

If you mean for all their equipment combined, then I imagine a LOT of forum users are above that threshold. I am just a hobby photographer, I don't have a big income, but my current gear has cost me about three times that amount.

I presume from the question that, to you, $7,500 seems like a very high amount to spend on a hobby, but for many people it really isn't. Some have very well paying jobs, others (like myself) forgo other expenses, such as smoking, drinking, eating out, living in a big house, etc. in order to spend money on our hobbies. It is just a matter of allocating money to what will give you the greatest benefit. Of course, not everybody has an income which leaves much, if anything, to spend on hobbies. That's life, but it doesn't mean they can't play, they just have to shoot with what they can afford and I have seen some great images from a 10 year old body and kit lens.

The 1DX is USD 6800 at B&H right now, so one such camera and you are pretty close. If I then add a few lenses in the current camera bag, and then you can go back and look at the 7D systems and and and...

Look at any of the Canon big whites and you have spent well beyond that 300mm f2.8 IS ii, 400mm f2.8 IS ii, 500mm f/4 IS ii, 600mm f/4 IS ii. The good new is most people who invest in these are using them for decades so the investment makes sense.

Unless you're a business, why would you pay that much.
