I'm probably going to pick up a 6D body soon, but I'll be very limited on funds for a while and am wondering if you guys can recommend a very inexpensive lens. I prefer zoom and am wondering what would be a good all-around lens.

I don't shoot from a distance. Most of my shots are very up-close semi-candid portraits using natural light. I'm just not into strobes, shooting sports, etc. When I start shooting for a few bucks here and there (mostly friends at work), I can rent a few lenses or whatever else I need. There are a lot of options there.

I do shoot a lot of architecture and landscapes too, along with people. The kind of "candids" I do are people who know I'm there, occasionally pose, but pretty much do their thing while I take pictures.

I'm also thinking of just putting a prime on it, perhaps a 50mm 1.4 or the 35mm. I'd love to get L-glass, but I'll have to save up. I really need to get going on full frame. It's time. I'm ready.

Thanks for any advice.

FWIW: I'm currently using the the EOS-M for what I'm doing, but I don't want to get rid of it. I love this camera. However, I'm ready for full frame, and the 6D is exactly what I want (I use center-point focus anyway).

I know you prefer zooms, but I love the very inexpensive 40mm 2.8 pancake. I actually prefer that lens on my 6D as opposed to a crop because of the focal length. It's a sharp lens, even wide open.

As for zooms, I love the 24-105L. Not sure what your budget is, but a lot of good deals pop up for the lens.

I agree with both of these lenses :) the 40mm is one of my favourites on the 6D, makes the whole setup small and light. The 24-105mm is great too, but sometimes I wish it had more reach ;)
