
I would go 5d3, your love of cars could take you to the track and having the af system of the 5d could help out a lot.
can you elaborate more please. how would you compare the AF system in the 5d iii vs 7d.

Between the two bodies the 5d has less fps but does better in low light. Low light performance will help out a lot if you go to a night time race like nascar or something as ISO tends to help get the shutter speeds needed for that crash shot. Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.
