Just got mine last night. I'm hoping to get outside with it tomorrow, but I'll have to brave some unpleasant fall weather - temps in the mid 20's with a 30-40 MPH wind. Still, it'll be worth it!

I picked this lens to complement my 70-200 II. Between the two of them, I should be well covered for most shooting situations. The 17-55 and 100-400 give me some extension beyond my good lenses, but at a cost of some IQ.

EOS R | 7D | 24-70 f/2.8L II | 70-200 f/2.8L II | 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L | 17-55 f/2.8 | 11-16 f/2.8

^ Congrats.

Now all you need is a 5D III, and you’re all set. :)

I finally had a chance to get out with my new 24-70. Man, it was cold. I couldn't stay out long, with wind chill temp of 11*.

Anyway, this is one decent shot I got of a big piece of New England granite sitting in the forest. It started out as part of a mountain in New Hampshire, hundreds of miles to the north of here, and was scraped off by a mile-deep glacier in the ice ages and dropped in Massachusetts as the ice receded. Covered with moss and lichens, it sits in mute testimony to the power of ice long past.

Tomm-y!
if I had to have have a zoom, this would be it.
it makes brilliant images.
but I have decided that I am completely addicted to 1.2 glass.
I'm going back to the lens I moved to fund the zoom, 50L, for when I "think" I want a zoom.

1.2 glass cant replace a super competent zoom IMO (same goes vice versa ;))

I love the 50 1.2 as well, a zillion times more versatile than the 85 1.2. if I'm stopping down and/or do fast paced events, the zoom is king.

Well wow since I am now $1560ish poorer I guess I earned the right to post a SOOC shot with my first L lens. No offense to the photographer who took the blurred shots in the background, but your days are numbered. :)

Last night I had the opportunity to shoot the family in low light conditions. Here's a couple of keepers.

A 21st century mom - nurses the baby and surfs the web. 7D, shot at f/2.8, 70mm, 1/30 sec, ISO 3200

My 7 year-old granddaughter. 7D, shot at f/2.8, 41mm, 1/125 sec, ISO 6400

EOS R | 7D | 24-70 f/2.8L II | 70-200 f/2.8L II | 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L | 17-55 f/2.8 | 11-16 f/2.8
