Ditch the selective color and this would be just a killer image.

The reflection in the right eye is distracting but otherwise a strong photo. Get rid of the selective coloring too.

That is a lovely effect. Is it a LR filter? Or do you just do it manually?

Are you talking to me? Haha

I just do everything manually and save it as my own preset and reapply and adjust as needed.

Say, Hof.....would you mind just a little explanation to go with that photo? I'm guessing something pretty substantial is going on there. And I'm also guessing that's you in the picture you're holding.

I wanted to ask the same question!

Sure thing. I don't really shy away from talking about this, so I hope that doesn't strike anyone as weird, but talking about it has really helped me deal with it.

On March 2nd of this year, I tried to take my own life while out at school for the spring semester. I put a handgun to my chin after a night of heavy drinking. I had been depressed about my situation with my girlfriend at the time, my grades in college, and my (lack of) finances. The alcohol just put me over the edge. Somehow the bullet deflected without causing any severe damage (comparatively, that is) and I was left conscious and coherent enough to walk to the police station behind my apartment to get help. I was airlifted to UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh where I spent 41 days between their ICU, Trauma Unit, and Psych Ward.

I know now that it was an incredibly stupid, selfish decision and one I would have never made sober. I've been attending therapy regularly and haven't touched alcohol since. I still have some surgeries left but for the most part, everything is close to behind me. I actually picked up photography when I got home from the hospital as a way to pass time during my recovery, and now have a photography job with a professional indoor football team lined up for next year :)

Any other questions feel free to ask. It's something I regret and am ashamed of, but not something I hide from.
