For an isolated color shot to work, there really has to be a reason to do it.

And you found a reason.

Great colors and a very dramatic and romantic shot, though it looks just a tad over sharpened in a couple of places.

But I keep looking at that negative space between their necks and shoulders and it's so close to forming a heart. Maybe if she leaned her head forward a bit or tilted her chin down a little? Or maybe it's time for a touch of Photoshop magic... ;)

Which places do you think it is over sharpened? I went back and compared this posted image to the original sized one on my flickr and this one does appear sharper, especially in the water. I think the extra sharpening effect could be a product of the smaller version posted here, on the original only our silhouette is in focus and sharp. Its a shot of my wife and I and she too thought the negative space was forming a heart.
Thanks BurnUnit :)

You know, I think you're right. There seemed to be a slight halo around the legs and the yellow and orange of the sky. I didn't click it for a larger view and the bit I saw on my monitor and work wasn't really visible on my monitor at home. Probably just the small risk you take when sharpening at full size and then downsizing for web display.
