The game will last 7 days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only. Feel free to comment and/or ask questions at any time. This is a good competition for learning new methods, so let's make it a bit more dynamic. I will be judging edits, not comments. Feel free to comment on the original image as well.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #498".

Submissions end, Friday, November 29th, 2013 at 7:00pm Eastern Standard Time and a winner will be announced.

Selected sky, then using levels darkened it. This brought out the clouds and sun some.
Used Nik color efex pro Plugin Tonal contrast set at 30. This added significant detail and lightened the image up.
Turned up saturation on yellow line and trees
Made the road a deeper, richer black, using levels.
Dodged trees to brighten them up some more.
Burned outer edges just a little. This, to me, helps pull the viewer to the center of the image even more.
Cropped.

Opened in Camera Raw, adjusted exposure, highlights, shadows and whites. Adjusted Clarity and vibrance and sharpened. In CS6, duplicated BG then put in multiply mode and added layer mask to paint back light in the centre and below tree line. Cropped, then LAB colour boost then smart sharpen

Here's my take on it:
The basics in Lightroom 4.4:
Cropped, rotated. Exposure +0.36, Contrast +21, Highlights -83 (that really brought out the detail of the sun and clouds) Shadows +48 to bring out details in trees, whites-48, blacks +7.
Clarity +29, Vibrance +55, Overall Saturation +7. Tone Curve Shadows +38.
Individual color saturation and luminance adjustments. Removed CA around trees.
Cloned out the sign in the background as well as the wire running across the road.
Then I really wanted a golden sunrise type look. To do this, I put a gradient filter from the top of the image down, brought the temperature all the way up and slightly raised the exposure. I also added a gradient filter from the bottom up, with a cooler temperature and slightly lowered exposure.

Going for a colorful desktop background.
Divided it into three exposures and ran it through Nik HDR
Spent a week playing with it so many times I can't figure out exactly what I did... (sorry)
Added a Vignette
Cropped to a 16x9 ratio for my desktop (took off the top as I thought the road was interesting)
