Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 2/100 ZE

Great images here!

Any advice on either buying the 85mm or 100mm Carl Zeiss lenses, I'm not sure which one is more versatile ?

I was wondering on the same questions for long, long time. Actually I still am wondering. But if you ask me the Zeiss can be considered more versatile lens as it's sharper and it's not as heavy as the Canon. The Zeiss can be successfully used as landscape lens, portrait lens, macro lens and as a video lens.

But if portraits are your thing then the 85L/II is the logical choise. Some say the Zeiss is almost too sharp for portraits, to a degree that it might bring out unflattering details on facial features. And with 85LII autofocus comes really handy with portraits.

This is probably one of the best portrait shot I've seen. The 3D effect is phenomenal. Is there a special post-processing done or just purely the effect of the lens? Thanks

I used to. For me it was a bit harder to get a good focus because of the 5D3 fixed focusing screen, much harder than with 5D2 +EGs focusing screen. I mean, it depends on what you want to focus on accurately. If you are going to do macro you'd better use live view. If not it would be a bit difficult open wide.

If not, with practicing you can achieve great results (f7.1):
