Peter2516, here's a comparison:

before

IMAGE: http://www.chuckspage.com/photography/uploads/eagle1.jpg

after
IMAGE: http://www.chuckspage.com/photography/uploads/eagle2.jpg

levels adjustment settings
IMAGE: http://www.chuckspage.com/photography/uploads/levels_adjustment.jpg

It brightens up the photo quite a bit. I try to remember to make levels adjustment the first thing I do and then edit from there. Some photos won't need it but most can use a little tweaking. The best way it was explained to me is that in digital images there can be, for lack of a better term, dead/irrelevant data. So you want to bring the left and right slider up to the point where they start meeting data and then adjust the middle slider to taste (I don't usually stray too far from 1.00 setting). In some photos you will hardly notice any changes where as with others it can be quite a dramatic change. If you're not familiar with levels it's located in Photoshop under image-adjustments-levels. I forgot about the eagles in Juanita Bay, I may have to head up there some time and see if I can't get any shots as I'm in Bellevue so it's pretty close.

Thanks I like what you did. I used lr5 for editing (I still have to learn tons of stuff) and dfine2 for NR. I have to visit that image adjustment levels in my cs6. Thanks for the info and pointers I really do I appreciate it. Juanita bay in Kirkland is really nice for wildlife photography. We have the Swans back already and some beautiful ducks.
