Really? Can you please point out where Canon's manufacturing/design has ruined the first few thousand pictures generated by the camera? Thinking specifically of the Nikon D600 dust and oil problem.

Consider the blue dot issue, where Canon had to spend a huge amount of time working on an AF fix.

I think it's safe to say that both camera manufacturers have had loads of issues on new releases. I think Canon learned it's lesson with the infamous 1DIII focus issue that hiding your head in the sand is never a sound recovery strategy. When the 5DII issue popped up, they were pretty quick to admit it and though the fix was slow in coming, they did release several press releases indicating that they were aware of the issue and were working a fix. Nikon hopefully learned the same lesson with the oil issue.

Here you go...take a read. 25% of the poll had oil spots on the sensor and viewfinder of their 1dx. And to boot, Canon is not doing anything about it. That's a $6500 camera.

I'm not sure they learned anything. There is an ongoing oil issue with the 1dx and a well known issue with the 24-105 lens that they have done squat to fix.

Yes...but if you spent $6500 for a professional grade camera and it starts coughing up oil and Canon buries their head in the sand...I think you would be singing a different tune.

So your saying they refused to fix it and it plagued every camera and eventually manufactured a replacement model to remedy the problem? If that's true then I agree...

Nope...does not plague every camera...but what if it was an issue on YOUR camera and Canon did nothing to remedy the problem. You be happy with that?

Yes Nikon screwed up royally on D600/D610 debacle but thats not to say Canon hasn't had its issues in the past. When you manufacture on this scale you cant be perfect

No doubt...just not anywhere to the extent of the D600. BTW 25% of a poll on a photography forum probably translates to MAYBE 5% of total sales...

Actually I was thinking about the black spot issue early on with the 5DII. I had totally forgotten about the 5DIII light leak issue.
