Very nice shot, EightEleven! So do you think I should just stick with my Kenko extension tubes then and not worry about a reverse ring?

Also, I'm assuming that I need to use a tripod either way, right?

Not really sure where to ask about this, but here goes...

I've got a 60D and a 50mm f1.4 lens. Just read something about getting a reverse ring to do macro..

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Not sure how deep into macro stuff you're looking to get, my .02, Grab a used 100mm macro or the 60mm macro if you're only planning on using crop sensor. Personally i like the 100mm because it gives you a little more working distance, plus they are pretty versatile lenses, you're not stuck only doin macro, they double as great portrait and flower lenses :D

I've seen both lenses going used for around $350 to $400, and are well worth the money.
Couple shots with the non-L 100mm before i upgraded.

I agree with getting a macro, but only from the images I've seen on here. I end up shooting a lot of stuff with only a hand brace (like the front end of billiards cue) and that seems to work.
Sorry I missed the Kinko tubes in your sig!

Since you allow editing, here is a more dramatic rendition (if you go for this kind of thing...) :D
