Awesome. I am still hesitant to send my lens to Canon Philippines to have it done. No one here has had their lens upgraded.

be the first! i called them early this year or last year, they haven't received instructions on the issue yet.

that said, i'm not hearing anything with the 5D3 and 200 combo.

though, i've been stuck to 50mm focal lengths for a long time now.

I often read that, but for me that's a completely stupid reason, I'm sorry.
If the eye is in focus, that's already enough on this type of wildlife shoot.
(And besides, the perceveid difference of DOF on subject between 2.0 and 3.5 is ridicoulous, but the impact on bokeh is big)
Bokeh is more important in this type of image, than the subject body sharpness.
Please think more about artistic rendering, than documenting ;)

Example of a UK wildlife photographer only shooting wide open with all his lenses (he keeps exif in his images) :
http://www.dannygreenphotography.com/ (external link)

That was my point of view, but do as you want of course ;)

You being a little unfair to the Florida shooter. While the Brit photographer is phenomenal, he makes a living with his photos and devotes endless hours to getting it right, including shooting in locales other than his backyard. Control of depth of field can be very subjective, it takes time to master it. TC's subsequent shot of the cranes shows that a little more depth of field--to include the end of the beak-- would have been better. I imagine he's learning.

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

Holy cow. Here I was defending you on the 200mm f2 thread because I thought you were a learner. This is great stuff with the 500mm. Tc202.

Responded on the 500 thread. Those were my first set of pictures with the 200, and I need to start using this lens more :)

The process is really fast, assuming they have the part. They received my lens on Wednesday afternoon and worked on it right away. Thursday I received a "shipped" email and it overnight back on Friday. The noise is now night and day. :D

Sonny I'm still waiting for mike to commit first before I do mine. ;) my worry is that I'll be the first in the whole Philippines to have my 800 done.

One day I will take out this lens and it won't be cold and I won't be struggling to keep my fingers warm and shoot with it. Until that day comes... I'll just settle for these!

This is undoubtedly the best maternity set I have ever seen with the first in the series being my favorite maternity picture ever. Great work!
