Tony, you've had it for how many days and not tested it? I'd taken it right out of the box and would have gone out the door. :)

Mine is the 2.8 non-IS version. I use a mono-pod a lot when shooting sports and my daughters drill team and it is incredibly sharp. For weddings, I wish I had IS but I still manage to get the shots I want so I'm not conviced, yet, to upgrade.

Thanks for the responses in this one!!

Megapixels and high ISO are a digital photographers heroin. Once you have a little, you just want more and more. It doesn't stop until your bank account is run dry.

Hi Suzy, the first two days poured down and I've been working since:(

How sad, you need to take it out and use it.

I put over 500 clicks on mine in just one afternoon at my daughter's dance/tumbling recital.

70-200 f4 and love it. Sharpness rivals anything out there (with appropriate light). :D

I think my 70-200 f/4 is just amazing. It is razor sharp, and never lets me down. Some of the sharpest pictures I have seen on this forum have been from this lens. I think it takes just as sharp pictures as the 500L IS. When I get my 300L IS I will be interested to see how those pictures compare. Not bad for a sub $600.00 lense.

I was originally going to start with the 70-200mm f/4L and eventually work my way to the f/2.8 version, however in the end I held off on buying the f/4 and used my earnings from an artshow for the f/2.8 instead. The IS version was a bit out of my budget, but I don't have any complaints with the non-IS one I have, infact it's become my general 'walkaround' lens now. :)

It's also got me wanting to buy more L glass now.

2.8 IS here. Went right for the 'big' one, since I knew I would be shooting HS football games.
