I had shooting my friend wedding event last weekend with 6D, the focus done very well, the focus point is less than 5D3, but there is why the 6D is cheaper.
When last year 6D came out, all was compared it to 5D2 and said 5D2 was better; now everyone is compared 6D to more expensive 5D3. I feel the 6D suddenly upgrade one level:)

Every camera eventually gets compared to another. ;)

@Nick, I used the 70-200 for all of these I believe.

Cool... Do you keep that on your camera throughout a whole wedding or change at times?

if you're missing a shot at a wedding, it's because you didnt anticipate the shot, and nothing more. As for the link david posted, not surprising, since it's pretty much the american way. No camera body in the world would have prevented the issue.

if the AF is so bad, nikon is pretty much out of the game when it comes to weddings, since they dont use outer cross types either... You shoot nikon right ;)

Fyi. I've been shooting long enough to anticipate anything at a wedding/event. When clients pay $3-5K for a wedding, I'm not willing to compromise. I've even used my dirty D600 and it captured what I needed. Heck! I'm anxious to use my Df for my 2014 season!

Most of the time, I don't remember if I had my bag with the 24-70L. If I had my 500mm, I could have gotten some of the shots I wanted but couldn't with the 70-200.

No, I mean the 500mm. If you look at the wide angle shot, there was no way I was going to be able to get a straight on shot anywhere near the ceremony. There are cross-overs between each set of pools, and if I had longer glass, then I could get into the middle of the ceremony by virtue of focal reach.

I've owned the 7D, 5Dc, 5D 2, 5D 3, 1D MK III, and three 1Ds IIIs'. I have my reasons going Nikon but, that's a whole different topic.

Just a bump, this is a fascinating thread and don't want it to die...

So, I would like to state that the 5DM3 is a total waste of money versus the 6D for weddings.

I would take the 400 over a 5DM3.

Ouch! Not the sort of thing a 5D3 owner wants to hear? I understand...
