I opted for the Older 135mm FL f/ 2.5 lens from the 60's over the 1970's FD version with S.C. Coating.

i found both on ebay for the prices below:

FL = 75.00
FD = 100.00

Both lenses were in pristine condition. But not like as MINT as my Canon 50mm FL lens.

Great shots everyone. I plan on using my Sigma 35mm 1.4 and Canon 85mm 1.8 to start with but need to find a wider lens as well. Any thoughts other than a Zeiss 21mm or 15mm? :D I wonder what older lenses there are that might fit the bill.

Oh, is everyone still shooting jpg only or Sony raw?

Luminous Landscape on the A7R:

"Altogether a very sweet camera, and one that Sony should be proud of. Canon and Nikon look like they’ve been left at the gate, with Sony now running a race almost all of their own. Recent Sony cameras have been innovative. Canon in particular just seems to churn out minor revisions to cameras that have been around for ages."

Well, just dropped some more money on a new lens: Sony 35mm F2.8 for the A7.

Very sharp so far wide open. Hood is odd and lens cap is tiny but man this lens is small and light!

Pics coming up!

The Zeiss 15 sings on the a7R...haven't shot the 21 much yet, but I expect the same.

hey all
im going to Japan in a few weeks and i'm going to pick up some lenses to test out on my a7r when im over there.

I'm mainly interested in primes 50 - 100mm lenses that are f2 or faster.
I'm happy to buy in any mount (provided an adapter exists)
Seems like the Pentax 50 1.4 m42 is a good buy, same with any Canon FD lenses. I'll probably pick up a 50 1.2 ais too.

Can anyone recommend any gems? Any really good 85's?

Thanks in advance

Anyone out there dumping their Canon body in order to purchase an A7R?

I LOVE my RX1, and loved my NEX 7. Sony sensors are truly the best right now. Have an A7R on order, and it's in store now waiting for me to make up my mind...And I am wondering if I should pick it up!

Just bought a 50L, thinking I would just stick with Canon, but after hearing all the chat...I want to buy the A7R after all. But, after buying the 50L, and it being Christmas and all...I am a little strapped for cash.

Wondering if selling my 5Dmk2 is a good idea. And replacing with the A7R. I use the 5D mainly for landscape and portraits...7D for sports. RX1 for travel.

I guess I would then use the A7R with a metabones and mount up my selection of Canon lenses. I KNOW the A7R would be great with the 50L and 135L, as manual focus is a breeze and will give better results than the AF on the 5Dmk2 for portraits. And For Landscape...I'm lways tripod mounted!

AAhhhh! What to do?!

either way, I like what you think. A7's look like the way for me as well, but not quite ready to dump my canon. Was thinking canon + F2.8 zooms for events, and A7 for everything else.

If you have a 7D, and use the 5D2 for landscape and portraits, and want to keep some Canon glass; selling the 5D2 and getting the A7R + adaptor sounds like a decent idea. You'd still have a fast focussing body for sports (7D) and would have a superb image quality body for landscape and portrait (A7R).

I suppose selling the 5D2 would go some way to offsetting the cost of the A7R + adaptor (though it's still a fairly large outlay).
