YongNuo YN-E3-RT and 600EX-RT Released - Canon RT COMPATIBLE !!

FYI. HERE is a thread I started that includes a link to my first impressions of the YN-E3-RT.

Gr mode works fine with older cameras and the ETTL metering works fine as well.

I'm really not sure if I should sell my two of my ST-E3-RTs & switch to Yongnuo instead.

The only thing I really want from YN-E3-RT is just the wireless 2nd Curtian Sync. But that means I have to ditch all of my 600EXs as well to the Yongnuo version.
I've switched over from Phottix Odin system to Canon RT system. The hardest part was to sell the transmitter system, Phottix Odin, as not many people want to go for older tech. Something I want to avoid.

AF assist is good, nice to have, but to be honest it's not something that I use very often for my type of shooting (interior & product photography).

Compatibility of the Gr mode with pre-2012 cameras are also nice, but I don't use my older cameras anymore. I've sold my 5D2, & about to sell my 300D & 1V anyway. Both of my 5D3s are already fully compatible with the Gr mode.

IF, I can sell both of my ST-E3-RT for $180 each then maybe I'm planning to switch to Yongnuo version.

You shouldn't have to sell the 600EX's, the YN RT gear is directly compatible with the Canon 600EX-RT.

(Though it doesn't sound like there is any advantage for you, and Canon gear is well proven as reliable).

Wireless 2nd curtain is the only reason I am interested in the YN-E3 also, and it is included but only in M mode (no ETTL).

I have Canon 6D and I use the YN568, 565, 560-II to include the 622C. I am planning on getting the YN 600 EX-RT to include the YN-E3-RT. Will the -E3-RT control the other Flashes my YN568,565,560-II to include the YN622C attached to each Flash???? Desperately needing help with these matters

I believe the copyright has no strength or anything in other countries. Gary Fong found that out on the remakes of his lightsphere and sold very cheaply. He can't stop it so Canon can't either.

I'm going to be doing more in-depth testing and evaluating in the next couple of days. SCS is one of the items.
As for copyright/patent protection. Most of what is in the marketplace is a collection of technologies that are commonly used so patent protection is difficult to get. And there is the problem with getting the patent filed in multiple jurisdictions. Copyright on something like this is meaningless. What's to copyright the way the name is stenciled on the product. That's not even a factor. The radio protocols are relatively easy to reverse engineer.

And the YN-E3-RT has features that are missing from the Canon variant so that would make a prevailing in a lawsuit difficult.

Look at Apple and Samsung. The iPhone was and is clearly a unique product design with unique, patentable features. And Apple won some patent infringement lawsuits, but Samsung has essentially the same products that now circumvent the patents.

Has anyone reviewed the Yongnuo YN-622-TX transmitter for the Canon and does it do what the YN-E3-RT will do or will the 622-TX do a good enough job for the Canon Cameras and Yongnuo Flashes.... I am using the YN560-II, YN565-EX, YN568-EX with the YN622C for each Flash and one on Camera the Canon 6D.

I don't think the YN-622TX is available for sale. Once its available I'm sure there will be testing and evaluation.

I have several YN-622c transceiver that I use with older speedlites. They work well and I expect that the YN-622 TX will offer some useful options. We'll just have to wait and see.
