This lens amazes me whenever I use it in a new way. This time a large group shot, sharp from corner to corner:

Lovely shots everyone. Can't wait to start contributing to this thread. Just ordered a new dust pump which is also my first L lens.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I love this shot! Didn't know they had paddleboarders in Scotland though! ;)

Thanks - he's the first I've seen here! Rather him than me in December! He paddled on for over a mile - just caught one frame with him in front of the bridges, before he disappeared round into Granton harbour...

Thanks Scrum, I just hope it arrives before the scheduled delivery date. I hate paying for smothing then having to wait a couple of weeks for it.

I bought a used 100-400 a month ago.Its sharpness was not impressive. Initially I wanted to sell it...
But this is my first L, so I decided to keep it and now trying to love it.

This is one of the sharpest photo I've taken with the lens. Applied sharpen in LR.

Zorro, long lenses take practice. Looks good to me. Keep it up.

You shot a 1/4000 shot at 1600 iso on a 550D. Try to keep your shutter speed at 1/1000 or so which should be sufficient. You could have dropped your ISO considerably and got a better image. As others have said, keep at it. Long lenses require practice.

You'll love it. The push pull zoom is the best feature of the lens imo, although others seem to hate it. With focus point expansion turned on, you can wait at around 100 or 200mm, acquire the BIF in the vf, quickly slide to 400 and shoot, all in one motion.
