I felt like pushing the ISO up my 6D a little and decided a Christmas theme was a good way to go. This was shot at 3200. I'm not completely impressed as it is still somewhat noisy. Anyway, let me know what you think.

I'm also working on a color version but I can't seem to get it right. I will post it when I'm done.

Very nice comp, Gregory. I'm only noticing noise in the blurred ornaments on the tree. The boys face and shirt look clean to me. Might want to back off the blacks a bit to show a hint of detail to his hair...primarily to better separate his head from the vertical black shadows on the far wall. You've already got a good start on this, but I think a tad more separation is needed.

There's going to be some noise because it's a tad underexposed. But the noise isn't distracting imo.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will make some changes later.

With the 6D, I wouldn't hesitate to push the ISO a bit harder and ETTR. I think it will handle 12,800 without any trouble.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I find it VERY noisy even at 6400.

Forget all the technical obsessions; It is a correctly exposed picture.
Beyond the technical stuff, the artistic composition is good.
And this is all that matters.

Nice image. Like the comp, and really like the look in the boy's eyes. I have to say I would be really tempted to frame this one.

I am always thinking I am getting more noise then I would expect from my 5diii. It has been recently suggested to me (by Dave) that maybe I am being to picky. I don't see any issue with noise in this image.

Thank you both. I think I obsess over the wrong things. (mostly sharpness and noise) I need to get my priorities straight and worry about the overall image itself.
