Very nice, it's always astonishing just how fleeting the moment is.

Great shot too

Oh that's fine, to each their own! I do kind of agree to some extent but until I get a camera with a similar dynamic range to the human eye I make use of it on occasion when the mood strikes.

Yes we have our preferences :-)

So this is my first ever DSLR camera and this is the first day I used it. Thought some of these photos I took of a buddy of mine were pretty dang cool! If anyone has any suggestions on anything I could change, I would be greatly appreciative to hear them!

These photos were taken on Full Auto. Still learning how to set-up the camera correctly for different kinds of shots!

Welcome to the 70D club, HessMedia.

Looked like we were going to get a sunset so went for a quick trip to the end of the road. Wasn't exactly spectacular but a fleeting moment of colour:

You know you got the devil on one shoulder telling you to open and drool. ... take camera out and put a wrapped rock inside so it has some weight to it, as if the camera was in.

Canon 70D/70-200 f4/17-55 2.8/BG-E9/430EZ I like DSLR's. It makes a distinction between photo fans and normal people who don't give a damn how a picture could look like

Hi guys,
i was spending more time experimenting what 70D is capable of on high iso in lowlight situations, this time NO noise removal in post. Most of pictures here are resized, sharpened and with heavy NR, which tells nothing about camera itself...

here is an example of 70D shot on ISO8000 (only resized) - see? noise is gone, details are still sharp, you don´t need FF for that! :)

Welcome to the world of SLR HessMedia. This forum is a great place to learn. Try getting out of full auto mode and experiment with shooting in manual, aperature priority, and shutter priority. Most of all, have fun with your new 70D. It's a great camera.

palad1n-same question as Makis, raw or jpg...
also mention you don't need FF.....having a couple of FF bodies i fully agree; in fact i'm studying my next camera and it's looking like a g1x.

MakisM1&MedicineMan4040: i always shoot RAW, SOOC is indeed noticable better from modern fullframe cameras on higher ISO, no questions about that. Default algoritm and default NR somehow ruins the image quality on higher ISO on crop cameras:/

g1x is great in term of mobility and IQ ratio, i too find differences in IQ and noise control too small to justify the cost/size of FF cameras for normal use.
