Just wanted to post this. For anyone that's been on the fence about this lens (like me), B&H has it for $129 shipped today with free two-day shipping. Mine will be here on Monday, just in time for Christmas!

Just saw the same deal on Amazon. Jumped on it.

Just ordered this lens. I had the hardest time deciding between this and the 50mm for my t3i. It'll be my first prime. As much as I want a wider aperture I was worried the focal lenth wouldn't be as useful in most situations. I like the idea of taking portraits but realistically that just wouldn't happen too often, and I would struggle to get enough of the subject in frame. So hopefully I made the right choice.

I wish it were easier to find shots taken using a crop sensor, preferably with the t3i or t4i. Every time I see a shot that makes me say "wow", its almost always from a full frame. The rest don't say what it was taken with.

Well sure, but those aren't lens specific so I still have to do a decent amount of combing through L lens shots and whatnot. I was thinking of some place to look at just crop sensor 40mm shots. I realize that's probably too niche for a thread of its own though. It just means I have to do a lot of hunting.

Not sure if this is wow, but I use the 40mm with my T4i all the time. Here's a recent shoot I did with the combo. I also have the 50 but find the 40 to be much sharper and faster to AF.

Ok, I got it yesterday. I just could not resist when the price went down to $129! Fun - it makes my wife's T2i very small indeed. But now I am wondering what I will use it for... I have a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 and a Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 macro. The first one for indoors, the other - for portraits and for macro. 40mm f/2.8...??
