Anyone butchered a battery? By this I mean pulled the end cap off with the locking catch and replaced it for another?

I only ask as I have just received a Lenmar battery from the US which I have waited over a month for and the bloody catch is broken. The twist handle has a bit of snapped plastic by the hinge meaning it drops off. I emailed the seller a couple of days ago but no reply as yet. The thought of having to send it back and wait a similar amount of time isn't pleasing. If it is fairly easy to do I have 2 old batteries that don't hold charge as donors.

I've never done it but it looks like it's only held on by two small screws. I'd pull the end off one of the old batteries and see how it goes : )

Here's one taken with the 90mm ts-e

It's really easy to swap the end cap, two screws off and swap.

I've gone a bit further with the battery butching and re-celled a few of them. I've been shooting with a self-made battery with LSD-cells (GP ReCyko) for a long time now. Wouldn't go back to regular NiMh cell battery after doing this :)

I hear it's been done plenty of times, since aftermarket batteries are known for not being the perfect fit that the OEM is. I did it just to try, but switched back to the Lenmar cap since I found it to be no different (and this way I know which ones are the Lenmar batteries, since they have a white sticker on the cap).

This body looks great but I'm having a 5d Mark II and a 5D (as back-up camera). Does someone own three bodies?

Personally I have a 1Ds2, a Rebel T3, and an EOS M. I use each one for different purposes, and of course they can serve as backups to each other when needed.

Does this body have better performance on birding, wildlife and action photography than the 5D Mark II?
