Is this manual shooting? Thanks kin2son.

You mean manual mode or manual focus?

It's manual with AF if that answers your question ;)

So my buddy loaned me one of these bad boys to use for a swim meet this weekend. Quick question, while I'm not really using this for a panning type shot, should IS be turned on or off?? BTW, I was stoked when I picked this thing up today. He said it was Mark I but turns out he was in correct, it's the mac daddy mark II !! Been wanting to try one of these out.

EDIT: Here's a couple quickies from a walk today. Flickr seems to have butchered the upload with some extra sharpening, at least on the first one. With this said, this thing is pretty sweet, but it is quite large! The IS is AMAZING on this lens. Got a couple super sharp shots at 200mm handheld at 1/50th. Was pretty blown away!

couldn't resist the holiday deals, so I sold my Sigma one and upgraded to this bad boy as my new xmas present. It's expected to arrive on xmas eve and I can't wait!

If you like these big lenses then I think you will be very satisfied with your upgrade. The Canon is without a doubt sharper than the Sigma at 2.8. I can now say this with first-hand experience.

I've always put it in mode 2 for panning shots, but I'm not entirely sure if that is the correct way of doing it ..

Shooting a swim meet this weekend. Just edited these two for now. My baby girl and an older kid from the team. The 5D3 + 70-200 2.8 II is an insane combo for this type stuff.

Both at 2.8, ISO 6400, no NR beyond LR default!
