Okay guys I have some solid lenses and 3 580's with TT5's to run em. I can probably get enough to set me up with a gripped 800e the 14-24, 35 F1.4 and an 85 F1.8 maybe a 50 if I go cheap.

I shoot studio for a living and like editing big files makes my job way easier. The 17MP of the 1Ds II seemed big 4-5 years ago and now not so much. I shoot a decent amount of sports like 4-5 bike races a year and a few moto..

I assume the 800 has much better high ISO than my 10 year old Canon correct? Like printable 3200-6400.....

THANKS

Good move, I did it and haven't looked back. Nikon is supposed to announce a new FF 35 1.8 in early Jan. You might want to chrck it out before springing for the 1.4. I went with the D800, a friend had both and I tried them, very difficult for me to the advantage of the "e".

I would go SIGMA ART 35 not the Nikon. May spring for the 85 F1.4 Nikon but at almost $1600 it is hard to choke down......I have found some 14-24 on ebay at around $1450 so it would save almost $500. Any issues these lens tend to have after long periods of use?

Tests and reports from users I've seen indicate the 85 1.8g is better than the 1.4 on the d800's. I haven't had any issues with any of mine, I got the 14-24 with the body over 18 months ago. You might want to try asking about these things in the "got a Nikon" thread, its located in the "Canon EOS section" above. More Nikon people there...

So... The OP dumping Canon and going to Nikon is a rumour? Perhaps this should have been posted in the "Photography Industry News" section...

of course if its priced like the 1DX that wont solve your problem necessarily.

So if the linked article is based in any fact, we won't know anything solid about it until September and it won't be on the shelves until mid 2015 :(

If i'm recalling canonrumors.com correctly, they are a little slow and will probably have this breaking news in a month or two. The site is incredibly busy covering the earth shattering news streaming out of Canon, Inc.

Pssh! I'll beleive it when they fix the banding and use new sensor technology. It will probably be dubbed Digic VI! In the mean time I'll be practicing aerial shots with my Phantom. :)
