Lets See Your Logo!

I have been looking over this thread for a couple years and have to agree withsamplestars on this one. MOST (ok maybe not 9 out of 10 but 7.5 out of 10!) look very amateur and do not convey the skills offered by said photographer (usually). Regardless of your shooting skills, if a logo is a potential customer's first impression of you, you owe it to yourself to have a pro-grade logo!

And while your at it, register your domain name and use that for your email address even if you don't have a web page! Second amateur red flag is waved when you print your email address as anything@gmail.com or @Hotmail.com or your local ISP for that matter.

gmail and the like do have a place and that's called personal.

If your offering your services via Craigslist.org, please disregard all I have mentioned and carry on!

Seriously, you don't have "canon" as part of your logo let alone big on your floor? Wow. Only the photographer cares about the brand of something used, your customers only care about the results. Here's hoping you never switch to another brand! LOL!

I had this one done on elance for under $50. I did pay quite a bit more with a "tip".

The designer went in multiple directions after we spent a lot of time discussion the image I wanted to portray. This was my favorite.

Help me Hikin Mike, does that mean my link didn't work? It is in a private area of my site but I can see it fine from this forum so I don't know if I'm missing something else. I moved it to an open area just in case that is what you are referring to.

One of the best I've ever seen. Some will say if you're not a nature photographer (which you may be) that it's misleading, but personally I love the correlation and I love the cleanliness of it. Great logo.

Thank you, I decided to have a professional design it for me and think its worth it if you are doing this to earn money. I was a little worried about people thinking I just do landscape, but if they see my logo chances are they are on my website or have my card and both are very straight forward in showing what photography I do.

The reason for the canon branding began as a personal banter...
However, it has proven to draw attention, even as show by your response.
At the end of the day, attention is the goal, if people will remember you, your brand, what you do, then it works

FWIW, I did the flooring and fit out, changing or removing it is no hassle

Bit extreme, that is a high percentage of bad logos. A fair proportion of logos in this thread are actually quite nice. And lets be honest here, not every customer is a graphics designer with 10+ years experience who will judge a logo by even a pixel. What ever happened to judging a photographer for his/her photo skills not their logo designs. A logo is very important but to say they will loose customers by not having a pro make one? Bit extreme. There are plenty of companies that make millions, they have utter crap logos but because they are marketed well and know how to run a company they make money.

This is not to say you shouldn't have a nice logo done professionally, just that I think your stats where a little OTT and false.

I get great self satisfaction in DIY, wether it be a graphic design, coding, customising a vehicle, building a structure, landscaping, or any other custom expression of art.
Sure, someone with more experience may produce better, but at the end of the day its not about money for me, its about self satisfaction. Fortunately, photography does generates an income for me, I'm driven by the excitement of what I do, not the income, the income just allows me to do what I enjoy.
I'm not suggesting anyone shouldn't seek the services of a professional to produce their logo, or any other aspect of their image they are wanting to portray, but if your happy with your own efforts, go with it.

The trees in my logo symbolize the first shot I took that really got me into photography, as well as being an M for my first initial.
