With photographing birds in my yard. I couldn't take a decent photograph today if my life depended on it!

On November 20, 2012 I had an unusual bird on my lawn. It was very cold, and the ground was covered with frost. The bird was a Common or Wilson's Snipe. The second bird that I photographed that day was a Black Capped Chickadee that only had one leg...I was hooked!

This Chickadee from today has something on it's wing that does not look normal.

Another photo from today, a Hairy Woodpecker. Not my best work for sure!

I had a pet canary that had a similar growth on its wing. It is in the earlier stage. It eventually becomes thick and hard. The vet said it was a form of arthritis. Its pretty severe and the bird died.

Thanks for the information. I never noticed the growth until it was on my computer screen.

To me photography is about having fun.
If you capture a few good images here and there that's a bonus.

Enjoy it and keep shooting!

Photography and bird's can be very addicting SJC, our lens are never long enough, Camera's never fast enough, We fight the noise in our picture's, We wish for good light on days we can get out and shot, and in the end the fruits on our labour we share in a forum with people we never had the opportunity to shake the hand of!! ...Isn't it great??

Thank you! I still remember when I never visited the "Bird" section here on POTN, even though I have been feeding the birds for years. Now it's the first place I click!

Thanks Jeremy. I agree, it is about having fun for me too, and capturing a few images worthy of putting on calendars for family and friends!

You certainly hit the nail on the head! I have spent plenty of money on gear during this last year, now I need to work on my skill level!

Happy Avian Anniversary. It's always fun to see the members here growing in this hobby. As long as you feel there's more to learn you're on the right track, the day I lose that is the day I'll give this up. For me, that and my love for nature are the fuel that keeps me out there plugging away. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Steve. Rarely a day goes by that I am not reading or watching a video about photography, or taking photos, or wanting to be taking photos...oh yes...I am obcessed. I can't imagine a day when I haven't visited POTN at least once!

I'm still waiting for anything close to perfection! I have learned so much right here in this section, and I will keep practicing....

Yeah ..... But it's one of those healthy obsessions. Take solace in knowing that you are not alone :)
