This is the Alps seen from the Black Forrest/Schwarzwald, Germany (Schliffkopf) shot with the 70-300 at 165. The distance is about 300 kilometers (190 miles).
The blue bothers me a bit but I don't see what I could do to fix that.

Desaturate the blue channel.

That's up to you, I'm not sure what you want to achieve. If you want a warmer sky I'd use a gradient filter or brush to saturate it a bit.

Hey. From your first photo, the color temperature looks cold to me. The blue channel could probably be desaturated a bit, but really it looks like it could use a bit more warmth (based on your question about the excessive blues).

However, it depends on what you want to achieve. Perhaps you want a very cold feeling. B&W might work well in this case, too.

That's not mist friend, that's inversion (smog). Nice pic.
